We were definitely not impressed. We have been meaning to try Nick's for the past few months, since we visit Hilton Head Island often. Jessica our waitress seem to not know the menu very well, felt rushed to give her our order. Jessica was more concerned to with the people in the back or side room rather than her tables in the front by the bar. Waited a very very long time for our check. The bar and restaurant are listed in the HH directory as a Pittsburgh inspired establishment. Growing up in Pittsburgh my boyfriend and I were excited to visit such an establishment. What a disappointment. The service was horrible. Had many staff but very disorganized as to whom was waiting on who. The food was very average if even that.... My boyfriend had a burger and fries...it was small and tasteless. I had a steak salad which had red steak on it, and melted cheese on top of the steak. The menu read that it was a traditional Pittsburgh salad. I have ordered hundreds of salad in all areas of Pittsburgh and have never had one with rare steak and melted cheese on top. When the menu read cheese I figured it would have cold shredded cheese; not melted, then they through cold French Friends on top....YUK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The walls had some pics of Pittsburgh and some sports jerseys, but other than that there was nothing that even resembled Pittsburgh about this place. What a disappointment. Won't be going back..... Quit using the Pittsburgh name for a draw, this place is a very poor representation of any thing that has to do with Pittsburgh. Mary Ward Georgia

Great food in a great setting. Perfectly prepared Fried Shrimp and the Pork Porterhouse was amazing. I'll be back! We highly recommend the She Crab soup!

First impressions were bad, I was expecting a steakhouse and this appears to be a converted Applebee's. And there is no wine list ---by the glass they only offered one brand of each major varietal ---the Pinot noir was Rex Golliath (yuck!). And they only had 7 wines by the bottle, seriously 7. I would have moved on but my dining companions were 3 teenage boys ecstatic to find 4 TVS all on some version of ESPN---so we stand sans wine For appetizers the boys had the crab corn fritters --the verdict was they were ok but tasted a bit like onion rings (lots of things going through that same fryer?) the she crab soup was good The boys all had 16 oz strip steaks. They needed to be trimmed, as they came out with too much charred fat. My son said, " it's a steak you can get at any chain. Nothing special". Note that across three plates the only thing left was the charred fat---so they liked it just fine! I had the blackened grouper savannah style. It was a nice sized portion of fish. The spinach/crab/lemon butter topping was a nice twist. It was a good way to feed three voracious teens steak without going broke ---but we would have been just as happy at an outback

Looks like an old Applebee's that is owned by a Pittsburgh fan. Tried the mushrooms for an appetizer not bad. Wife ordered the fish & I had the surf and turf. Food tasted ok but overpriced for what you get. Service was ok probably just depends on the server you get.

Very good food, excellent service, nice ambiance. Good for families. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews... Our meal and experience was very good.

I ate here with my mom and sister on New Year's Day. My sister and I ordered the 2 lbs of crab legs for $24.95 (market price), and my mom ordered the steak. I was tempted to order the all-you-can-eat crab legs, since they're a treat and all, but 2 lbs was more than enough (it also included a potato and a side of green beans). My mom's steak was undercooked, even after she sent it back. The food was good. Not amazing, but good. The atmosphere was weird: it was a sports bar that served fancy food. All of the tv's were broadcasting the different bowl games, so I got to see MSU win the Rose Bowl, which was great. Our server was sweet, and did a good job. That should be noted. Overall, it was ok. If given the chance to do it again, I'd probably go somewhere else.

First it began with calling to make reservations, we were told that they don't take reservations. When we get there, they ask us if we have reservations and obviously we say no. The hostess hmmm's and haaa's and finally says "Ummm the wait will be 25-30 minutes." We don't get an attitude, she must be new or something so we sit and wait. After our name is called and we make our way inside, the hostess says "actually it's going to be another 10 minutes or so, my boss is *awkward face*". She proceeds to seat a table of 5 with no reservations. In passing, the hostess says "We're gonna seat you at a booth." Okay fine as long as we sit somewhere and eat eventually. We finally get seated approximately 45 minutes after we enter. Our waitress was super nice and welcoming, so we're still trying to be positive. We have four people in our party. One gets the filet, sides, and mango daiquiri, she says it's okay but doesn't have a long of flavor and it undercooked for a medium-well steak. One gets the BBQ chicken with cheddar and bacon, he really enjoys it and it looks super delicious. One doesn't get anything. I get a medium bourbon ribeye with traditional sides. My ribeye arrives and the waitress requests to cut it to make sure it is the correct doneness. I can't even cut this steak, it is so well done. I've had a lot of steaks in my life and this is by the far the most awful cooked steak. The nice waitress double checks to make sure she wrote the order correctly and she did. She takes the steak back to cook another. In the time it took to cook the steak, my family had finished eating and was ready for the check. When it finally comes back, it is medium-well. Okay fine, I'm not a snob I'll eat a little and take it to-go. It didn't really have any flavor even though the bourbon glaze was good. Any place that plans to last would apologize and comp at least a part of the meal, but not Nick's. This place was disorganized in their service operations, needs a chef that knows how to properly cook meat, and needs to work on their customer service. Scott's Fish Market in shelter cove was the best food we had all week even though the place needs a little decor upgrade. Honestly McDonalds was better too.

Food was mediocre at best. They had a gluten-free menu with plenty of options which was a plus, but the meal was just meh. I ordered the BBQ Trio (chicken, rubs, shrimp) and the shrimp were not barbecued, just steamed and slathered in sauce... Plus a funky texture make me think they may not have even been cooked all the way. My boyfriend got a seafood stirfry and it was drowning in an orangey-teriyaki sauce... His shrimp were equally iffy. Overall it was ok, but definitely not a "must" on the island.

Nice to see a Pittsburgh restaurant on vacation! We had all you can eat crab legs 34.95 each served with choice of potato and vegetable. Overall it was good. Service was good and our waiter was right there when we needed more crab legs.

While staying at Park Lane last year, we enjoyed the food at Nicks..However last night we called & ordered two baked potatoes and a chicken Caesar salad..Our potatoes were over microwaved, the salad was withered and the croutons were burnt as well the chicken had no taste, just bland.. Left an awful taste in our mouths..

I decided I would love to have some grouper while down here ,and Nick's grouper seemed reasonably priced. After coming to Hilton Head for over 40 years ,Nicks seemed to have survived many years .When we we walked in we realized we had made a mistake the only activity in this almost empty restaurant was 5 TVs all showing football ,terrible ambience .The place was pretty much empty for a Sat night .Finally a waitress appeared bringing us water after my request ,I started to give her my order but she said she would be right back .After 10 minutes I was ready to walk out ,my wife restrained me ,I hailed a waitress ambling by who eventually took our order .Her demeanor left a lot to be desired she was like sleep walking .Here we were in an early bird special hour but no early bird menu was handed to us ,we had to ask, that is such a turn off for me ,they advertise early bird and pretend it's not available .We got our order broiled grouper ,my wife had shrimp primavera .Both dishes were ok not great but just ok ,I asked if bread came with this the tall redhead answered sarcastically that she might be able to arrange it .The rolls were so stale and heated up that you couldn't touch them ,I couldn't slice them or tear them so tough .A third waitress took over slim and fast the only waitress that I felt deserved a tip.As we walked out 2 couples asked me how's the food ,I screwed up my face and they immediately turned around and walked out .This was the worst service I had experienced in the week I was in HHI and it ruined my night out .Of course I will never go here again ,but I have always had my list of restaurants that we go to and always get a great meal .We deviated today and paid the penalty ,don't waste your time and money going here ,if they can't treat you like a valued customer ,there so many other restaurants here that do.

Great food & finally a place that put fries on salads! Good service as well!

Teetering between two and three stars. Based on food alone, two stars. Based on the atmosphere and the fact that I really wanted to watch the Steeler game while on vacation, three stars. We really didn't eat much, just had the Philly cheesadilla and some fries. The quesadilla was really greasy. They had Sam Adams Octoberfest on tap, so they get points for that. Great place to watch the Steelers win though!

great steelers bar . If you forget your Terrible Towel they will give you one. We had such a blast on Opening Day 2011. Can't wait to go back =)

We were told about this place because we are Steelers fans looking for somewhere on the Island to watch the Steelers on Monday night football. **it is the off season for the island** The way we came in, there were 0 cars in the first parking lot and we assumed they were closed. Then as we passed the 2nd parking lot we saw 2 cars and a guy walking... so we turned and ventured... asked "are they open?" so we went in. It was painfully empty. My mom had a good time walking around taking pictures of the Steelers memorabilia and sharing photos with family. The bartender was attentive. The beer lines had gone sour and needed to be cleaned. The menu had some interesting components, but I agree with other yelpers that it lacks any kind of cohesiveness. We did not try the food.

We went to nicks for dinner I should have checked Yelp first The place needs Gordon Ramsey and an extreme make over. The staff was very friendly the service was OK they never cleared our plates I had grouper which I would say was the best thing on the menu all the rest of the four dishes we got were all frozen food nothing fresh here They are trying out a new salad which was called a grilled wedge which I always thought was iceberg .There is something about warm wilty lettuce NG I would not recommend this place or go back

We had a great Bloody Mary at the bar! Then the chef suggested the Clam Steamers and the Crab and Corn Fritters! Both were excellent!!

This place was awesome! The She Crab soup is apparently a "Nick's special" and it was FANTASTIC. It was perfect for the cooler evening weather. Then I got the Chip Crusted Tilapia which was also very delicious and a very generous portion. My mom got the grouper special of the day which she says was also delicious and a rather large entree as well. We both ate off of the Early Bird Special Menu (4-6) for 15.99 and it was great. It even came with a glass of house wine! In short, the food was great quality. The price was fantastic. And our server, Amy (I think), was wonderful and attentive without hovering. Great experience and I definitely would return often if I lived in the area.

Food was mediocre at best. I had the captains platter with a substitution that was up charged with no disclosure and then when I questioned it, the waitress said it was an add on...the sides were cold and rubbery. Should have been a clue when there was only one other table of guests on a Saturday night. Much better food and ambience available on the island. Try Hugo's. Much better food for the same price.

I really like this place, relaxed, family atmosphere with decent food. Only recommendation is when you order steak, make sure it's cooked to your liking, our cook couldn't seem to figure it out the other day. The crab legs were awesome though, got 4 clusters with my order and couldn't finish them all. Good for kids too.

Delightful staff and great food at a very reasonable price. The blackened seafood platter was absolutely delicious, flavorful and nicely presented. Happy hour beer and wine very affordable and onion rings were a perfect companion. Nick and team offer a great option for family dining that doesn't sacrifice taste for price. Well done!

While on our family vacation 11 of us ate at Nicks Steak and Seafood for dinner because we are from Pittsburgh. The waitress was great and majority of us enjoyed our dinner. My fiancé had the 2lbs of Crab legs and they were sub par compared to the other crab legs we have had on the island, and he got a 24 hour stomach bug after eating them. I had the peach bbq salmon which was delicious. I would recommend Nicks, just not their crab legs.

I only ordered a grilled chicken salad from here. From the menu it really looked appetizing. Peaches, pecans grilled chicken, lettuce, etc. However, it wasn't paired well at all. It was mediocre at best. Honestly, I have had better salads at wendys. Prices were on the high side. If I were a betting man, I'd say go else where. I took a chance based on the reviews, but I wasn't impressed.

Great customer service and the food was better than expected given the place has a pub feel when waking though the door. The grouper served savannah style was incredible. The 10oz NY stripe was cooked perfect. We will be back for all you can eat crab legs before the vacation ends...

Came in here on a whim today for lunch while visiting some family in town and we were glad we did. The five of us in our group ordered eight different items on the menu and everyone of us were very pleased. The perogies were outstanding, the onion sauce it was served with put it over the top. Had the PITTS burger for my entree and let me tell you it was not only very tasty but very large. They do not skimp on the portions here so don't let the price scare you away. My wife had the Tilapia Charleston which was excellent and the rest of my group had Bison Meatlof, Kentucky Bourbon Steak and the BBQ Shrimp and Scallops meal and we were all satisfied. Couldn't have been more pleased with my experience and will definitely be back when I'm in town again.

This is definitely the place for any Pittsburgh sports fan visiting or living in thr Hilton Head South Carolina lowcountry. My wife ordered the BBQ surf and turf. She rated her meal an 8 and the fried shrimp I ordered. See the photos I posted of her meal and mine. The resteraunt was clean and the wait staff was very helpful and prompt. My baked potato was a bit overcooked but overall I rate Nick's a 4 out of 5. On a side note the evening aptmosphere is great. If you have to wait for a seat there's a lot of outside seating and a bean bag double double bag toss. There's also music playing on outdoor speakers.

This place was not your typical vacation restaurant, but the food and service were great! I had the peach bbq salmon and my boyfriend had a steak. Everything was very fresh and well cooked. I'm a bit of a picky eater, and our server was happy to help me with substitutions. The restaurant has a Steeler's theme, which my boyfriend thought was cool, but it also has several large TVs and a nice bar. It was a quiet atmosphere with many families dinning. It wasn't super fancy, but it was clean and comfortable and just what we wanted after a long day in the sun. I'd happily go back!

I had an excellent meal here! 2 ppl..orders; Ribs and chicken breast combo Captains platter; broiled tilapia, fried shrimp and broiled scallops FREAKING EXCELLENT! Ribs, seriously was top 3 I ever had. And I'm a NC girl! Soft dry rub then a little sauce after they're done. Tender as oh my god! Fried shrimp was surprisingly panko fried and huge! Very light and airy. Scallops decent size, broiled perfectly. Tilapia, amazingly! I am a huge foodie but my better half, not so much. And she hates seafood (I know rite!). We needed surf and turf. This was me dumbing it down and settling...so I thought. Best surprise ever! 2 cocktails, 2 meals and dessert (carrot cake, 5 stars!), 60.00 (70.00 w/tip). Good job Nick's!l

Although the food was great the waitress we had was terrible. She was visibly annoyed when we had to ask her for things like a drink menu, refills on our drinks or to split the check up. After deciding we would be leaving the tip amount she deserved we were very disappointed to find a 20% tip had already been included in our check. Too tired after being there for 2 hours to talk to manager, we paid our bills and left dissatisfied.

Coconut shrimp was excellent dipping sauce superb! shared catch of the day with my mate scallops and steak with wild rice in a teriyaki glaze also quite good. Went in for early bird specials. Excellent service. Would recommend

Great outdoor seating. They play country/boating music, like Buffett, and your sitting under plenty of shade to help with the heat. If you're a vacationing Pittsburgher, this is the place for you. The inside is decked with memorabilia from burg sports personalities. The menu has the "Pitts"burger on it, along with a number of local favorites--including pierogies! We tried the crab and corn fritters, they were very good.

Suprisingly ordinary. I had the Deviled Shrooms (stuffed mushrooms ) and Blackened Grouper. The Grouper was a nice piece of fish and the best part of the meal. This lacked orginality and flavor. MEDIOCRE.
